Just looks like little concavities, don't they? Somebody dug a pit, and now there are tens of sand fleas all trying to go west away from the sun. West is a sheer cliff face for them, practically. I doubt they're in much danger, though. That sand's packed more than what they're accustomed to, but they are professionals at digging into sand.
Not that anybody's going to read this -- or give it thought -- but for the sake of something, I'll make it clear that they're not sitting in hollows or anything. That's pure illusion. I wonder how it would've appeared to me when I was there if they could've somehow been convinced to stay still for five seconds. When they're all running around like mad, your neural hardware can't very well mistake them for holes.
