A perfect day for banana slug.

There's a mushroom about 10 inches in diameter and full of conifer needles, right? One side is held down by a bunch of branches and things. Today I came along and there was a banana slug compressed down to maybe 2.5 inches, sitting inside and enjoying a great feast.

Hey boys and girls, did you know that my fellow humans are incredibly, shockingly, horrifyingly stupid?

If you try to read about the delightful banana slug on the web, you will note that 1) the pages are made by blindly copying other pages so that everything looks oh-so-coincidentally familiar 2) a lot of ignorant people think banana slugs have a "pneumostone", thanks to the aforementioned blind copying. Again, how depressingly stupid. The word is pneumostome. You're looking at one there. Look up pneumo-, and look up -stome (any botanist, for example, knows what stomata are), and all will become clear as an unmuddied lake, clear as an azure sky of deepest summer.
