grand_canyon
These photos were taken in the Grand Canyon in March of 1992.
This was my first experience in backpacking. With a few photography classes under my belt I set out with 2 cameras (one loaded with B&W, the other with color,) a tripod and a weeks worth of food and clothes. I soon learned that backpacking requires careful packing, especially when you have to climb 3500 vertical feet of switchbacks.
My friends thought I was nuts shooting 5 rolls of film in 5 days. I was overwhelmed by the grandeur of the canyon when I was shooting and was quite disappointed that most of my photos didn't express that. Many of my shots turned out to be bland snap shots but a few really captured the experience (those are the photos I share with you.)
